barren bank accounts :/

Amex has been screwing us over royally! For the past few days, we have been waiting for our transfers from our savings account to our checking accounts to post, and because it’s taken so long we’ve been stranded. Not all places take Amex and on our other cards we are waiting for payments to post so we’ve been forced to walk into places asking if they take Amex and if not we sigh and walk out. Truly humbling.

First, we want to apologize for the delay to our loyal followers and subscribers (hello family). But we are back and ready to share! To be honest we just thought there wasn’t enough to share to post anything. Thankfully, that’s all changed.

Photographed above is our last day in Vienna. We didn’t do too much except wander around shops and cross off our final Vienna destinations. We started our day by walking 45 minutes to a library, which we didn’t realize was closed, just to walk another 45 minutes to the Natural History Museum. This would normally be fine except our bed in Vienna was a brick causing us to wake up feeling geriatric. On top of that, we were both wearing our loafers which are not meant for 3-mile walks. However, we successfully made it to the museum and it ended up being super fun and interesting! It was full of rocks and dinosaurs. I made Mer fall in love with me all over again with my extensive knowledge of dinosaurs (thank you Ark Survival Evolved! That is a video game for those not in the know) and we learned a bit about early human civilization. After that, we did some more shopping where I discovered the steeziest shorts known to man (which I was forbidden from buying:/). After that, we just ended up at our hotel with some bread, meat, and cheese for dinner! That concludes our trip to Vienna and our travels around Austria! Next, we are off to Copenhagen!

Why was the airport so easy to navigate and very civilized in comparison to the US???? Shoes on, no wait at security, and self-service bag drop, needless to say, we got there 4 hours early and sat in a cafe for all 4.

Here is us in our apartment in Copenhagen. The apartment is straight out of a dream. Numerous brick walls are accented by charming wood floors and pallet-like wood walls. It is beyond perfect, not to mention the dishwasher and laundry machine that washes and dries in the same machine! We keep saying if only we could slap this baby in New York at a nice rent-stabilized price of 2k it would be a dream home.

The two days we have had in Copenhagen so far have consisted of shopping, cafes, great food, drinks, and lots of walking. Not much more you can ask for! The vibe here is really cute and is already our favorite of our 4 destinations. Above is a fur coat Mer found at a thrift store for 100 dollars (since real fur is more popular here it is less expensive).

The pictures speak for themselves, the city is bustling and everyone has been super kind and friendly. Copenhagen is very charming and we are really into biking if you couldn’t tell.

Today, we started the day at a cafe Mer has been dying to go to called ORSA. She got a slice of banana bread with espresso cream on it and I got a cheese sandwich that was divine. After a couple of hours of drinking coffee and chatting, we headed back to our apartment to change for our next stop!

You might be asking yourselves what is this random grate photo? Well, let me tell you a little story about the time we almost really really really messed up (more so than Hallstatt). We just entered the gated area leading into our apartment complex when I stuck my hand behind me for the keys since I was leading us. Instead of handing me the keys, Mer tossed them (Which I can’t even blame her for since I’m constantly making her toss me things). Regardless, I wasn’t looking and they hit my hand and fell about 10 feet away from the grate whew no worries. I joked about her throwing them when I wasn’t looking, stuck my hand out, and then turned around. She took this as an invitation to throw them again. This time while I was standing right above the grate whose presence was still unknown to us. I saw it flying out of the corner of my eye and whipped around at the same time discovering the grate. Life flashed before my eyes our fates sealed in a matter of seconds. Before I was able to react, I heard the metal key clink and bounce off the top of the grate. A favorable bounce thank god. I managed to squat down in time to catch the key against the metal edge of the grate barely in time. We still get chills when we pass the grate ever reminded of what could’ve been.

After our chilling encounter with the grate, we headed to this climbing gym that I found. We spent two hours climbing around and just hung out since we were practically the only people there. It was pretty gloomy today, but it was very peaceful and serene.

After climbing, we went back to our apartment to regroup before heading to our dinner reservation at Hanzo. Mer found this restaurant and it will not come as a shock to anyone that we opted for Japanese food. We started out with some cocktails, and again it will come as a shock to no one Mer HAD to get the Lychee cocktail and I HAD to get the Sapporo. This was by far the best food we had our entire trip. The dishes at the restaurants are all meant to be shared so we got miso chili edamame, spicy pineapple salad, pork dim sum in dashi broth, Japanese cabbage salad with a steamed egg yolk, chicken bao buns, and spicy pork in rice. We ended the night with a leisurely walk back to our apartment, playing cards and watching challengers. Goodnight everyone.
