uh oh… more shopping

We did more shopping today against better judgment. Kidding kidding, but Conner had a few more bucket list items to tick off before we leave Japan tomorrow.

We started off our day at Jikko which is a Japanese Knife store. Conner had been so excited to stop at this knife store in Kyoto called Shigeharu because he found it on some niche subreddit months before we left and it was owned by an old blacksmith who used to make katana. The shop owner also was the last of his lineage so it seemed like a truly special and one-of-a-kind knife. Unfortunately, due to him getting more business than he was used to he closed down his shop temporarily for a break since he is getting older. Heartbreaking, but not the end of the world. Jikko still sells authentic Japanese steel knives made by a blacksmith but they aren’t hand-made by a single blacksmith in store. Regardless, he talked with the salespeople (as best as we could) and bought two knives which he is still very excited about.

After we finished up at the knife store, we we to a sushi restaurant and we got the yummiest tuna platters. This was some of the best sushi we have eaten on this trip, but nothing will top Tsukiji market’s sushi.

After lunch, we headed to Akihabara which is a shopping district for Anime figures and tech products. The figures here are SO much cheaper than in the US and we just shopped around the area finishing up getting gifts for family and friends.

After a long day of shopping headed back to our hotel to rest, pick up our luggage, and get all set for our big travel day tomorrow. Lastly, we finished the night getting ramen again! We are so sad to leave tomorrow!!! Love you all.
