Mozart Madness
The jet lag has officially hit and we accidentally slept until noon... oops! We can’t be blamed though because our hotel room has metal shades on the exterior that let in zero light at all. Even though we had a late start to our day, it ended up being a great one!!
We started our day at this little restaurant by our hotel and we had our first weiner schnitzel of the trip! The service here was great and even though it felt like 6am you can always trust Conner to order a beer! It was super crispy and delicious. They serve it with this cranberry jam situation to put on the schnitzel and it was the perfect touch. After our bellies were full, we headed to the Mozart’s house which is now a museum!
The museum actually surprised both of us with how detailed and in-depth it was. When we entered there was only 1 room with closed doors surrounding us. Doubt flooded our brains and we cursed the gods for the tourist trap we stumbled into. Thankfully we had the smarts to read the signs on the wall that said enter and pointed to a door which started us on the journey of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (no clue how to spell the middle name). First, we learned about his parents and then him and his sister. The family has a truly tragic story that Conner believes would make a great movie one day. Overall the museum was really cool it had portraits drawn of Mozart and his family and some of his old pianos (shown above Conner pretending to play Mozart’s Sonata No. 16 which is surprisingly the only Mozart piano piece he knows as he’s not the biggest Mozart fan yet). Regardless we had a good time learning his history and listening to some of his compositions.
After we finished at the museum, we strolled around the shops for a while and headed to a beer garden nearby for a couple liters of beer!
After a couple of hours of beer and wonderful conversation, we decided it was time to head to dinner! Conner confidently grabbed the both of us a liter cup and said “It’ll be fine it’s not really that much”… he lied.
We found this yummy pasta place and walked along the river to get there. We both got carbonara and Conner claims it was one of the best carbonara’s he’s ever had. The older couple next to us kept looking over and the wife made conversation with us as they left asking where in America we were from. I responded quickly and said New York to which the wife proceeded to fist pump and say I told you to her husband. We all laughed and Conner asked what gave it away. She said her daughter-in-law is from Alabama and she’s discovered a knack for picking up accents. We didn’t have the heart to tell her Conner actually lives in Minnesota but thankfully our waiter interrupted asking if we wanted a shot of limoncello. Conner and I were both thinking no but hesitated because the service had been great and welcoming but to top off the good night the server gave us two shots for free so we could try it and order again if we came back. After the pasta, we were feeling super cozy and ready to pack it in for the night!
Homework tonight:
watch the sound of music to refresh our brains before sightseeing tomorrow!!!
goodnight all!! xoxo
